In the Artist's Words:
"Text and image had always a problematic relationship. Very often images cannot be understood without text, be it an interpreter or a speech balloon. A text in turn is lifeless without evoking images, metaphors or acting in effigy.
Like probably everybody who makes pictures I question myself: Why, why that subject, that framing, those colors?
I remembered the photographer ‘Thomas’ in Antonioni’s film Blow-up: He discovered something uncanny in his own pictures. That forced him to blow up the images until they developed into an abstract. That is not my way: I confront abstraction, weirdness with language. The images don’t speak for themselves, I must disclose something inherent and personal at the same time. As a creator of images, I feel responsible for the texts those images provoke from me – as a counterpart to the contingent responses they could cause in others.
As a typeface I use Courier as a sentimental note to my time with a typewriter.."
